Development

Run offline checks locally; use disposable infrastructure for system-level node validation.

Source-groundedUpdated 2 November 2026Development status

Requirements

Python 3.11 or newer is required by the current package metadata. DVeMesh and DVeProto are included as source trees in this workspace. Some tests need cryptography and other declared dependencies; socket integration tests require permission to bind local sockets.

Core checks

python3 -m eryon --help
python3 -m eryon doctor
python3 -m unittest discover -s tests -p 'test_eryon_*.py' -v

Mesh and installer tests

python3 -m pytest DVeProto/DVeMesh/tests -q
python3 -m pytest installer_tests -q

These commands are intended for a development checkout. A test that cannot bind sockets due to environment restrictions must be reported as blocked; it is not a passing network test.

Resource ownership

Do not run a test daemon against a production TUN, UDP port, route table, or persistent DVeMesh identity. Use temporary state directories and loopback adapters where the test is designed for them. Real multi-host validation requires separate test hosts.

Release workflow

Release tooling expects an offline wheelhouse and a protected signing key outside the repository. See Release Verification and the Phase 2.4A implementation note in the source documentation.
